Braided Hex Nut Bracelet

I am in love with this bracelet I just made. It would look great layered with other bracelets, but it's chunky enough to wear on it's own.

All it takes is a little bit of patience, hex nuts, and some twine. It cost me about $3 to make it, while similar bracelets cost $250! SUCKERS! :)
The only difference between the two is that I used twine instead of leather, and I tied the ends together instead of using a hook. It is so easy to make once you get a hang of it. Check out Erica's blog, Honestly WTF to get the tutorial.

I'm obsessed now. I think my next step will be to upgrade and try this as a necklace..

I'll post pictures of my version when I finish, I just need a couple more quarters to buy the hex nuts!

Perfect color combinations using the color wheel

Ever wonder how some of your favorite fashionistas seem to magically know what colors goes together? Some girls know what goes together right away, but some others (like me) need this lesson. I wish I had discovered this a long time ago! Turns out all you need to know to create an fabulously colorful outfit that goes together is the color wheel! Figuring it out isn’t too complicated. Here’s a quick lesson in color coordination.

Below are the color combinations that you see on the runways and magazines. Use the color wheel as a guide. Here are perfect combinations for any type of design!

Colors directly next to each other (i.e. yellow and yellow-orange; yellow and yellow-green; violet and blue-violet, etc.)
Colors that form right (90 degree) angles with each other (i.e. yellow and red-orange; blue and violet-red; green and orange, etc.)
Colors directly across from each other (i.e. yellow and violet; blue and orange; red and green, etc.)
Colors that form a T (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red; yellow, violet, and red-orange; yellow, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)
Colors that form an X (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow, violet, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)

Neutral colors such as brown, white, black, and blue hues found in denim go with just about anything.
When choosing jewelry, pair gold (or gold-toned) jewelry with your warm colored outfits. Warm colors have a yellow, gold, or orange undertone to them. (I don't follow this rule a lot of the time though, I love gold with just about any color!)
Wear silver (or silver-toned) jewelry with your cool colored outfits. Cool colors have a blue, pink, or red undertone to them. Since colors are broken down by hue, temperature, intensity, and tone any single hue can be either warm or cool. Just look at the undertones.
