<ul><li>Wooden frame (one that you can hang on a wall)</li>
<li>Hooks (make sure they have screws on the ends)</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Stapler</li>
<li> Screen (the kind that are used for windows, you can find this at home depot)</li>
<li>Paint</li>
<li>Paintbrushes</li>
<li>A small nail</li>
<li> Hammer</li>
<li> Any other materials you would like to use to decorate your frame</li>
</ul><br />
Step 1: Paint the base of your frame, finish with clear acrylic spray paint.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeUfsAHtO2tJEP2szLQMxD_HtPuLSqoXwkO7DWohGp7hjfofx4OFgypnhVJ-zeqSywXNudKnnBYmlgPz4ISPGKRG8vecen74VnMKWwEfue3xZMRvA168LH51omnlyWOcII1a5TwgXWccA/s1600/SAM_1238.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeUfsAHtO2tJEP2szLQMxD_HtPuLSqoXwkO7DWohGp7hjfofx4OFgypnhVJ-zeqSywXNudKnnBYmlgPz4ISPGKRG8vecen74VnMKWwEfue3xZMRvA168LH51omnlyWOcII1a5TwgXWccA/s320/SAM_1238.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5CW-VZJS7bzULpDIe4AAJNNn-v9Vj08Ir9JnEAUD7atYIdNo5jGnax5IhBHpzbGy2FZ9KxsPuK3qUYEoAqG1Q8oMpNr7Z0oVnoM4cdytfUN4ANWsppkuj7eVsrVl8x-nNuz9gL06Htb0/s1600/SAM_1239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5CW-VZJS7bzULpDIe4AAJNNn-v9Vj08Ir9JnEAUD7atYIdNo5jGnax5IhBHpzbGy2FZ9KxsPuK3qUYEoAqG1Q8oMpNr7Z0oVnoM4cdytfUN4ANWsppkuj7eVsrVl8x-nNuz9gL06Htb0/s320/SAM_1239.JPG" width="320" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Step 2: Cut the screen a little larger than the hole of the frame. Staple the screen to the back of the frame. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnqFODhvop5zueIZcYPxkm1LpX8K4xNXiawiyZ6gi3MNZID7NP5WuZQSmNdyuwjxFV4nrHtmdJ5blTt9B1yjL_7u591OLAnqAFNim_rfzBB6OiESsKNCPYwWFrTW_n6XTtQLwEiLCET4U/s1600/SAM_1242.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnqFODhvop5zueIZcYPxkm1LpX8K4xNXiawiyZ6gi3MNZID7NP5WuZQSmNdyuwjxFV4nrHtmdJ5blTt9B1yjL_7u591OLAnqAFNim_rfzBB6OiESsKNCPYwWFrTW_n6XTtQLwEiLCET4U/s320/SAM_1242.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Step 3: Since it was difficult to screw the hooks into my frame, I hammered a nail into the frame where I was going to put the hooks. After you make the holes with the nail, screw in the hooks. Make sure that you put the hooks on the right side of the frame! You don't want the hooks to be upside down when you hang your frame.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Ag3SNhb6zP-o64qu0dvGUouydFvSgRcOIhthVnQEqCbIlNUM5hcFFquGFfEY7e8tCzOwLxJvGD2uWkL9nj8KS5dI4-MHqrgXNg6IabRCY3954ND76DxBJ3yuiklzuGDbeMy1LlYUsc0/s1600/SAM_1240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Ag3SNhb6zP-o64qu0dvGUouydFvSgRcOIhthVnQEqCbIlNUM5hcFFquGFfEY7e8tCzOwLxJvGD2uWkL9nj8KS5dI4-MHqrgXNg6IabRCY3954ND76DxBJ3yuiklzuGDbeMy1LlYUsc0/s320/SAM_1240.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Here is a close up of the hooks I used:<br />

Step 4: Finish decorating your frame however you would like. I finished mine by gluing sequins to it and I'm making a collage on another one.<br />
<br />

Step 5: Hang your jewelry! <br />

I missed having pictures of friends in my house so I decided to go to CVS and print some. I hung them with some painted clothes pins on a thread over my bed and in my living room.<br />

It would look great layered with other bracelets, but it's chunky enough to wear on it's own.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSzHraL1wh_nOioe-YwiYbNZlCJA2F7mFYdKHdemZ1y_g1HGnYD6H6228XPT4QijEt9k-2De2t9-BBZSyvk0DGm4e8Xwy7EqfXstDb6D-e39nepZd9sR530QE_BcHCpE0JjwiCnLFX99s/s1600/SAM_1174+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSzHraL1wh_nOioe-YwiYbNZlCJA2F7mFYdKHdemZ1y_g1HGnYD6H6228XPT4QijEt9k-2De2t9-BBZSyvk0DGm4e8Xwy7EqfXstDb6D-e39nepZd9sR530QE_BcHCpE0JjwiCnLFX99s/s320/SAM_1174+%25282%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
All it takes is a little bit of patience, hex nuts, and some twine. It cost me about $3 to make it, while <a href="http://www.gilesandbrother.com/products/braided-hex-bracelet">similar bracelets</a> cost $250! SUCKERS! :)<br />
The only difference between the two is that I used twine instead of leather, and I tied the ends together instead of using a hook. It is so easy to make once you get a hang of it. Check out Erica's blog, Honestly WTF to get the <a href="http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-braided-hex-nut-bracelet">tutorial</a>.<br />
<br />
I'm obsessed now. I think my next step will be to upgrade and try this as a necklace..<br />

I'll post pictures of my version when I finish, I just need a couple more quarters to buy the hex nuts!Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16162591325520537626noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4233133800394046110.post-83627761800784965142011-04-26T01:08:00.000-07:002011-04-26T01:13:47.891-07:00Perfect color combinations using the color wheel<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Ever wonder how some of your favorite fashionistas seem to magically know what colors goes together? Some girls know what goes together right away, but some others (like me) need this lesson. I wish I had discovered this a long time ago! Turns out all you need to know to create an fabulously colorful outfit that goes together is the color wheel! Figuring it out isn’t too complicated. Here’s a quick lesson in color coordination.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"></span><br />
</div><b><br />
</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpHbD6XkVJxxfbwL_GSOaEqKncoIAhuZBShwtSLbSeLtXMVxOFE6DR3VNqlewrNKqgZaKPBajvc7FG2s4G7BqTf900M9bM_2d3OtYJ_ET3IY9ZSfyk5dw8rZUi0WDmdHrIGyQHZnjCmCg/s1600/ColorWheel1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpHbD6XkVJxxfbwL_GSOaEqKncoIAhuZBShwtSLbSeLtXMVxOFE6DR3VNqlewrNKqgZaKPBajvc7FG2s4G7BqTf900M9bM_2d3OtYJ_ET3IY9ZSfyk5dw8rZUi0WDmdHrIGyQHZnjCmCg/s320/ColorWheel1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Below are the color combinations that you see on the runways and magazines. Use the color wheel as a guide. Here are perfect combinations for any type of design!</span><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Colors directly next to each other</b> (i.e. yellow and yellow-orange; yellow and yellow-green; violet and blue-violet, etc.)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Colors that form right (90 degree) angles with each other</b> (i.e. yellow and red-orange; blue and violet-red; green and orange, etc.)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Colors directly across from each other</b> (i.e. yellow and violet; blue and orange; red and green, etc.)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Colors that form a T</b> (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red; yellow, violet, and red-orange; yellow, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Colors that form an X</b> (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow, violet, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.) </div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Neutral colors such as brown, white, black, and blue hues found in denim go with just about anything.</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When choosing jewelry, pair gold (or gold-toned) jewelry with your warm colored outfits. Warm colors have a yellow, gold, or orange undertone to them. (I don't follow this rule a lot of the time though, I love gold with just about any color!)</div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Wear silver (or silver-toned) jewelry with your cool colored outfits. Cool colors have a blue, pink, or red undertone to them. Since colors are broken down by hue, temperature, intensity, and tone any single hue can be either warm or cool. Just look at the undertones.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
