Hanging Jewelry Frame Tutorial

Materials:
  • Wooden frame (one that you can hang on a wall)
  • Hooks (make sure they have screws on the ends)
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Screen (the kind that are used for windows, you can find this at home depot)
  • Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • A small nail
  • Hammer
  • Any other materials you would like to use to decorate your frame

Step 1: Paint the base of your frame, finish with clear acrylic spray paint.

Step 2: Cut the screen a little larger than the hole of the frame. Staple the screen to the back of the frame.

Step 3: Since it was difficult to screw the hooks into my frame, I hammered a nail into the frame where I was going to put the hooks. After you make the holes with the nail, screw in the hooks. Make sure that you put the hooks on the right side of the frame! You don't want the hooks to be upside down when you hang your frame.

Here is a close up of the hooks I used:

Step 4: Finish decorating your frame however you would like. I finished mine by gluing sequins to it and I'm making a collage on another one.

Step 5: Hang your jewelry!

Braided Hex Nut Bracelet

I am in love with this bracelet I just made. It would look great layered with other bracelets, but it's chunky enough to wear on it's own.

All it takes is a little bit of patience, hex nuts, and some twine. It cost me about $3 to make it, while similar bracelets cost $250! SUCKERS! :)
The only difference between the two is that I used twine instead of leather, and I tied the ends together instead of using a hook. It is so easy to make once you get a hang of it. Check out Erica's blog, Honestly WTF to get the tutorial.

I'm obsessed now. I think my next step will be to upgrade and try this as a necklace..

I'll post pictures of my version when I finish, I just need a couple more quarters to buy the hex nuts!
